Premium shredder, shears and presses
Ex-CASE Construction global president Carl Gustaf Göransson’s latest challenge is to revitalize the world’s oldest metal recycling company – LINDEMANN. Like his machines that convert scrap back into valuable metals, Göransson is a skilled transformer.
Having navigated through various industrial sectors, from construction and agricultural equipment, to trucks, Carl Gustaf Göransson has established a reputation for innovation and reinvention – as well as an envied understanding of what makes global capital equipment markets tick. In his latest project, the native Swede has taken over the management of LINDEMANN Metal Recycling, a company with a storied past and untapped potential. For more than a century the company has been the international benchmark in the design and production of premium shredders, shears and presses used in the metal recycling industry. And today it is a global player, with operations in more than 20 countries. In a recent interview, Göransson shared his vision for revitalizing the venerable German engineering pioneer.

Putting tech building blocks in place
Upon assuming the role of CEO in September 2023, Göransson wasted no time in identifying key areas for improvement. Acknowledging LINDEMANN‘s heritage and its recent struggle for visibility under previous ownership, Göransson set out to reignite the company‘s spark. His extensive best-practice playbook, honed over years of industry experience, is proving instrumental in reshaping LINDEMANN‘s sales process, and delivering a customer-centric experience.
Recognizing the pivotal role of technology in driving efficiency, Göransson has ensured that key platforms SAP and SalesForce are properly embedded in the organisation; technologies that are laying the foundation for streamlined operations and enhanced customer engagement. “Structure and lean processes are vital in order to become a high-performance company, and utilizing SAP and Salesforce are important elements of achieving this,” says Göransson. “By marrying the agility of a small company with the tools of a larger enterprise, LINDEMANN is poised for rapid growth, while preserving its entrepreneurial spirit.”
Central to Göransson‘s vision for LINDEMANN is a commitment to excellence in product and service delivery. Bolstered by a diverse team of seasoned professionals, Lindemann aims to solidify its position as the premier choice in metal recycling. Embracing a customer-centric approach, Göransson emphasizes the importance of leveraging customer feedback to drive innovation and refine offerings continually.
Looking ahead, Göransson has ambitious plans for market expansion and diversification. With a strong foothold in Europe, LINDEMANN sets its sights on penetrating the burgeoning markets of the Americas and Asia-Pacific. By harnessing sector-leading technology and fostering strategic partnerships, Lindemann seeks to transcend geographical boundaries and emerge as a global leader in metal recycling.
“At LINDEMANN we have an unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship,” says Göransson. “As the world grapples with the imperative of sustainable resource management, we are poised to lead the charge, leveraging our technological expertise to minimize environmental impact and maximize resource efficiency.”
A transformative journey
The 54-year-old, father of two’s stewardship of the venerable company heralds a new era of innovation and growth for LINDEMANN Metal Recycling. With a blend of strategic foresight, deep engineering understanding and unwavering commitment to excellence – plus a lot of early morning runs to keep his energy levels up – Göransson is charting a course for LINDEMANN’s resurgence on the global stage. As the company embarks on this transformative journey, one thing remains clear: under Göransson‘s leadership, just like the scrap LINDEMANN’s machines process, reinvention is possible.
