Raw materials in cycles
Dear readers,
The Berlin Conference on Metal Cycles took place for the second time at the beginning of April. In addition to digitalization and reporting obligations, the main focus will be on material cycles and metal recycling and recovery. Metals in particular are predestined for the circular economy, as scrap metal can always be recycled. The use of scrap metal also requires much less energy to be reused as raw materials – in contrast to the extraction of metals from ores. We will report on this in a future issue of recovery.
This issue also contains interesting user reports, including in the field of metal recycling. In the article “Sorting of aluminum alloys”, a project at Gerhard Lang Recycling is described in more detail. At the beginning of 2024, Gerhard Lang Recycling GmbH was one of the first companies in the world to introduce the AUTOSORT™ PULSE system from TOMRA Recycling for sorting aluminum alloys from stamping waste from automotive production. Read the article from page 22.
The purity of the recycled metals plays a major role in the recycling of scrap metal. Scrap metals with a high purity have a higher value. The new generation of REDWAVE XRF technology helps companies to raise the quality and purity of sorted materials to a new level. You can read more about this from p. 28.
An interesting time with this recovery
