Demonstration trade fairs retain high international component even though bauma is being held this year
Between 5 and 7 September 2019, the recycling and civil engineering sector will come together at Karlsruhe Trade Fair Centre, which will be presenting the trade fair pairing RecyclingAKTIV and TiefbauLIVE for the second time. Both areas will have equal status at the trade fair pairing, as project manager Claudia Nötzelmann explains: “Recycling and civil engineering each account for around half of the exhibitor count and exhibition space. Of course, we also have a number of exhibitors with a foot in both camps – which shows the close ties between the two areas covered in our trade fair.”
Hands-on knowledge through four special theme areas
One factor linking the trade fair pairing is also construction waste recycling, with exhibitors such as Moerschen and Kölsch providing live demonstrations at their own stand. The special theme areas make up the main focus of the two trade fairs: Mobile Scrap & Metal Yard, Wood & Biomass and the demonstration building sites for road and path construction and for canalisation. In all four areas, exhibitors demonstrate their machines performing typical work operations. Claus Faber, site manager at Scholz Recycling GmbH – which buys, sells, processes and recycles steel and metal scrap – is very enthusiastic about the hands-on presentation: “Of all the demonstration trade fairs, I am particularly taken with the quality of the live demonstrations in Karlsruhe, where the machines are shown working in sequence in real-life operating situations. We came to RecyclingAKTIV 2017 intending to purchase a screen unit and encountered a surprising number of manufacturers there. As our work involves screening scrap metal, we compared machines above all based on their construction and robustness. In the end, we decided to go for Komptech’s Cribus 2800 drum screen.”
The 200-plus exhibitors not only have the option of demonstrating their products in action in the special theme areas but also at their own stands. Owing to the great demand for such stand areas, the trade fair organisers have increased the open-air exhibition area by some 10,000 square metres. Here, recycling exhibitors like Arjes and Doppstadt and civil engineering specialists Wacker Neuson and KEMROC put their machines and other equipment through their paces.
Many exhibitors from other European countries
The ranks of civil engineering exhibitors once again include Zeppelin (with CAT), Bobcat (with Doosan) and Sany. Sector players making their debut at TiefbauLIVE include construction machinery manufacturer Liebherr and Swedish company Epiroc, which specialises in drilling equipment and hydraulic add-on equipment. Also present are retailers such as BML, eberle hald, Kiesel (with Hitachi and Fuchs), Ludwig, Schwab and, for the very first time, Cramo – one of Europe’s leading construction equipment rental companies. Trade fair project manager Claudia Nötzelmann stresses the importance of attracting international exhibitors: “It is already clear that, on the exhibitor front, our demonstration trade fairs will be every bit as international as they were in 2017. Given that the bauma construction machinery trade fair is also being held this year, this is a very successful result for us.”
As well as Austrian crushing and shredding specialists Komptech, other international producers of recycling equipment are coming to the demonstration trade fair in Karlsruhe: Ecostar from Italy will be showcasing its shredding and screening machines, while Austrian producer Xava specialises in compact screening technology and Polish company ZM PRECYZJA will be demonstrating shredders for paper and board packaging and crushers for wood and biomass.
As well as this, new exhibitors like eSaver, Oleoweb and Proemion will be presenting their testing, measuring, analysis and control technology in the trade fair hall right next to the open-air exhibition area. Other hall exhibitors include Losberger (site trailers and hall construction solutions), Riedlberger (road construction and machine technology), Vp Groundforce (shoring systems rental) and Metso (scrap shears).
