TOMRA Sorting GmbH received gold medal in EcoVadis sustainability rating

TOMRA Sorting GmbH, the Germany-based entity of TOMRA Recycling, has been awarded the gold medal by the world's leading provider of independent sustainability assessments, EcoVadis. This is the third time that the leader in sensor-based sorting technology for recycling has taken part in the assessment, and this year TOMRA was able to significantly improve its performance compared to the previous year by advancing from the silver to the gold medal.
TOMRA among the top 3 %
EcoVadis’ assessment comprises four main categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The results of the assessments place TOMRA Sorting GmbH in the top 3 % of companies in the “manufacture of special-purpose machinery” sector.

Active measures include implementing a group-wide sustainability strategy and undertaking projects to reduce Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions through actions like sustainable product design and responsible supply chain management. TOMRA Sorting GmbH uses the EcoVadis assessments to ensure that its suppliers comply with its values. The company has set the long-term goal of fully assessing its top suppliers to reduce its carbon footprint along the entire value chain. The sorting solution provider is aiming for net zero emissions by 2050 and has submitted its CO2 climate targets to the independent “Science Based Targets Initiative” for review and validation.

EcoVadis aims to provide companies worldwide with an independent and recognized assessment of their sustainability performance. These ratings enable companies to document their own progress and to consider their sustainability performance when selecting suppliers. The assessments are industry and country specific, taking into account company size, and are designed to enable companies to review their entire supply chain from a sustainability perspective.
