Eagle 3 – the new generation of shears

Mantovanibenne presented Eagle 3, the new generation of shears: compact and extremely powerful. „Since the first SH shear produced in Italy in the early 1990s,” says Paolo Mantovani, CEO of Mantovanibenne, “we have worked to produce reliable and efficient attachments in all operating conditions. Our shears are used on crawler and mobile excavators, on demolition equipment, in scrap recycling yards, but also in extreme temperature environments and also in offshore and subsea applications.“

A team of 20 industry specialists with decades of experience have worked 3000 hours on the development of a completely new, compact and extremely powerful product. In more than 10 000 hours of testing, the new shear has been used in any application, from the primary demolition of massive steel structures to the secondary demolition of heavy vehicles. The new series is designed to maximize the duration of use and can be maintained without complex interventions. The central pin of the shear, made up of sturdy components that increase its durability, can be easily removed directly on site, with simple and quick interventions.

The technical characteristics of Eagle 3

Shorter frame, unique weight-to-performance ratio and greater stability make the SH shear the ideal product in any situation, without compromising on productivity. The line, in fact, has been designed to increase the cutting force on all models and the new design of the mouth allows an opening up to 9 % larger.

The jaws are cut with a high pressure water jet to avoid possible weakening due to high temperatures; the upper jaw has been completely redesigned to operate with absolute stability, made from a single element without welding. Equipped with a new type of interchangeable piercing tip that offers greater protection and reliability, with easier maintenance, reduced costs and downtime. The blade seats are milled from the solid to increase resistance.

The cylinder is inverted to protect the rod inside, the enlarged bore develops more power by accelerating the cycles (opening and closing speed). The completely forged rod from the solid ensures superior resistance compared to a conventional cylinder. It is equipped with premium quality seals that can last up to 3000 hours.

The most heavily used parts are armored with interchangeable Hardox® 500 steel plates installed on the jaw profiles to avoid frequent maintenance operations that could affect the operational readiness of the shear. The armoring allows the shear to resist any impact without altering their structure, maintaining a very high level of wear resistance.

The first models available are 5, while the next 2 will be released shortly, for a total of 7 shears initially produced. The smallest model is the SH250R, with its 2600 kg it is suitable for excavators from 24 to 29 tons, while the largest will be the SH2200R, a real giant for the most massive demolition operations. The other models in the range are the SH320R, SH490R, SH600R, SH800R and SH1500R which integrate the already rich range of the previous generation of MBI shears.
